As companies try to figure out how software development should work in the AI era, one popular answer has been the "software factory" - an agent loop built around the traditional stages of coding. Now, Warp is introducing Warp Factories, a system designed to make building and running these factories much simpler.
The new system acts as an infrastructure layer, giving companies a ready-made environment for deploying AI agents and a clear roadmap for using them. Warp CEO Zach Lloyd says the target market is smaller companies that lack the resources to build such a system from scratch. He told TechCrunch that running agents in the cloud, steering them, setting up shared memory and evaluations is a huge infrastructure undertaking. With Warp Factories, those hard decisions are already made.
The system follows the standard phases of software development - triage, specification, implementation, review, and verification - and any step can be automated. Users can pick their own coding model, and it works with both Codex and Claude Code. It also integrates with ticketing tools like Linear and Jira, and messaging platforms like Slack and Teams.
Beyond shipping code, Warp Factories gives managers tools to track performance, compare configurations, and monitor token spend. It also supports self-improvement loops to automate management of the process. However, the system is not meant to replace engineers. Lloyd says his own team automates about 30 to 35 percent of tasks weekly, and he expects that number to grow as models and tools improve.
