Trump Mobile's T1 Phone Hits Snags: Design, Price, and Production Shift

Trump Mobile is adjusting key promises for its upcoming T1 smartphone, a new report indicates. According to The Verge, the device will carry a higher price than initially suggested and will not be manufactured entirely in the United States.

The publication obtained a near-final design image and spoke with company executives Don Hendrickson and Eric Thomas. The visual reveals a significant redesign of the rear camera system, moving from a layout reminiscent of an iPhone to a vertical stack of three lenses that appear unevenly spaced.

Pricing has also shifted. Hendrickson stated that early customers who placed a $100 deposit will still receive the phone at a total of $499. However, the price for subsequent buyers could reach $999. On the production front, Thomas clarified that while final assembly will occur in Miami, the company has walked back its original claim of being "proudly designed and built in the United States." Its website now uses the phrase "with American hands behind every device."

A specific release date remains unannounced. The company's site still targets a launch "later this year," but with a changed design, a variable price point, and revised manufacturing origins, the path to market appears more complex than first presented.
