In a move blending two popular services, Shazam's music recognition is now directly accessible within the ChatGPT interface. Users no longer need to switch to a separate app to identify a song playing nearby.
The integration requires a one-time link between a user's Shazam account and ChatGPT, managed from the chatbot's Apps page. Once connected, a simple in-chat command such as "What's this song?" or "Shazam, what's playing?" activates the tool. A prompt appears, and after tapping it, the service listens to the audio to provide a match.
ChatGPT then displays the song title, artist, and album artwork. It also offers the option to save the discovery directly to a linked Shazam library. Notably, the function operates even if the standalone Shazam app is not installed on the device, a helpful feature for users managing limited phone storage.
The update is currently being released worldwide. It is available across all major platforms: iOS, Android, and the web version of ChatGPT.
