Shares of Richtech Robotics Inc. (NASDAQ: RR) surged more than 44% in premarket trading on January 27, 2026, following news of a direct engineering partnership with Microsoft. The stock climbed to approximately $5.50, its highest point in three months. The collaboration, formed through Microsoft's AI Co-Innovation Labs, will integrate advanced Azure AI capabilities into Richtech's ADAM beverage-serving robot.
The core of the deal involves embedding what Richtech calls 'agentic artificial intelligence' into ADAM's operations. This technology aims to move the robot beyond simple programmed tasks, enabling it to make autonomous decisions based on real-time context. ADAM will use Azure for vision and voice recognition, allowing it to adjust its behavior according to factors like the time of day, current weather, or ongoing promotional events.
'This work with Microsoft is about applying sophisticated AI to tangible problems,' said Richtech founder and CEO Wayne Huang. The partnership allows for these software upgrades without requiring major hardware changes to existing ADAM units, a point likely attractive to investors.
The ADAM robot, which prepares and serves drinks, has been deployed in venues including the Kennedy Space Center and at events for the Vegas Golden Knights hockey team. Richtech operates on a Robots-as-a-Service model, reporting 55 such agreements recently.
The stock's dramatic rise reflects heightened investor interest in robotics and AI, a sector that has seen increased attention since late 2025. Analyst firm HC Wainwright & Co. maintains a 'Buy' rating on the stock with a $6 price target. Richtech is scheduled to report earnings on February 12, 2026, where the focus will be on the growth of its service-based revenue.
