The traditional hiring process is plagued by inefficiencies and a lack of transparency, leaving candidates in the dark. To address this issue, Stockholm-based startup Fika Jobs is developing a video-first hiring platform that leverages AI interview agents and short-form video profiles. This innovative approach aims to showcase candidates' personalities and communication skills, rather than relying solely on resumes. Fika Jobs has recently announced a $4 million pre-seed round, led by Luminar Ventures, which will be used to further develop the platform and prepare for a wider launch later this year.

The platform's process begins with candidates connecting their LinkedIn profiles, after which Fika's AI generates personalized interview questions. Candidates then complete a 10-minute video interview with an AI agent, currently powered by Google's Gemini models. The responses are then transformed into short video clips, organized into a profile that employers can discover and revisit as new opportunities arise. This approach has the potential to help employers assess communication skills and cultural fit early in the hiring process, particularly beneficial for early-career professionals and candidates from non-traditional backgrounds.

However, the use of video profiles also raises concerns about bias and discrimination. Fika Jobs plans to open early access to candidates this week, with a broader public launch expected this fall, initially focusing on Sweden before expanding internationally. The company's unique approach has already garnered interest, with over 100 companies on the waitlist and more than 50 companies having tested the platform.
