Qualcomm, following its acquisition of Arduino, has introduced a significant new piece of hardware aimed at bringing sophisticated artificial intelligence directly into machines. The Arduino Ventuno Q is a single-board computer designed to power robots and other systems that interact with the physical environment without needing a constant cloud connection.

At its core is Qualcomm's Dragonwing IQ8 processor, paired with a dedicated STM32H5 microcontroller for handling time-sensitive tasks. This combination provides substantial computing power: an 8-core ARM CPU, a capable GPU, and a neural processing unit capable of 40 trillion operations per second. The board is equipped with 16GB of fast RAM, 64GB of onboard storage, and expansion options, plus modern connectivity like Wi-Fi 6 and 2.5-gigabit Ethernet.

The Ventuno Q's defining feature is its ability to run complex, pre-trained AI models - including large language and vision models, gesture recognition, and object tracking - completely offline. This makes it suitable for applications where latency, privacy, or reliability are paramount, such as autonomous service kiosks, medical support devices, or urban traffic monitoring systems. It also integrates a full robotics software stack, allowing for precise coordination between machine vision and motor control.

"The Ventuno Q shifts AI from a remote data center into the hands of a device," a Qualcomm statement noted. "It creates a foundation for building machines that can see, think, and act independently."

Priced below $300 and slated for release in the second quarter of 2026, the platform is positioned to become a key tool for developers, researchers, and students working on the next generation of embodied AI and robotic prototypes.
