Station F, the massive Paris startup campus founded by billionaire Xavier Niel, is gearing up for the second round of its F/ai accelerator program this September. The 538,000-square-foot hub, often mistaken for a simple co-working space, has become a key launchpad for European AI startups. Director Roxanne Varza says the program is designed to push early-stage companies from prototype to real revenue in weeks, not years.
The first F/ai cohort raised $34 million in pre-seed funding, and 80% of the 20 startups were founded by repeat entrepreneurs, a third of whom hold PhDs. Two teams, Alpic and Rippletide, have already won international competitions. For the second batch, Station F has lined up new partners including Eleven Labs, Nebius, Rippling, OpenRouter, HubSpot, and GitHub, joining heavyweights like OpenAI, Google, Meta, and Microsoft. The goal, Varza says, is to give European AI founders the same access to top-tier talent and investors they'd get in Silicon Valley.
Station F's influence extends beyond its walls. It hosts an annual Future 40 list of the most promising startups among the 1,000 companies it welcomes each year, and in 2024 nearly all of them were AI-focused. The hub has also taken equity stakes in Future 40 companies since 2022. With 11 presidential visits since 2017 and appearances by AI leaders like Sam Altman and Turing Award winner Yann LeCun, Station F is betting that founders don't need to cross the Atlantic to build world-class AI businesses. "We want to show you can stay here and do it from here," Varza said.
