Oura announced a significant step in personalized health technology this week: its first proprietary artificial intelligence model, built from the ground up to address women's health. The model, which powers the existing Oura Advisor chatbot, is designed to provide insights across the entire reproductive lifespan, from first periods to menopause.
The new system is available now within Oura Labs, the company's optional testing area inside its app. It represents a focused effort to move away from general-purpose AI. Oura states the model is built on reviewed medical standards and research from its internal team of clinicians, combined with a user's own long-term biometric data from the Oura ring—such as sleep, activity, and cycle patterns—to generate personalized guidance.
"Women's health is too complex—and too often overlooked—to rely on one-size-fits-all systems," said Dr. Ricky Bloomfield, Oura's chief medical officer. "We designed this model specifically for women, grounding it in clinical science and real-world biometric data. This is how responsible intelligence in health should be developed."
The launch aligns with a notable shift in Oura's user base. Last fall, Chief Commercial Officer Dorothy Kilroy noted the company's most rapid growth is coming from women in their early twenties, not traditional fitness enthusiasts.
When a question is asked, the AI references its medical knowledge while simultaneously analyzing the individual's unique data history. The company emphasizes the model's tone is crafted to be supportive and reassuring, though it is clear it is not a substitute for a physician and cannot provide diagnoses.
All processing for the new model occurs on Oura's own infrastructure, with user conversations kept private and never sold. Access requires opting into the Oura Labs section via the app's menu.
