OpenAI has introduced a new feature for its ChatGPT assistant, transforming it into a more dynamic tutor for complex subjects. The chatbot can now produce interactive, visual diagrams to explain specific scientific and mathematical principles. A user asking about the Pythagorean theorem or Coulomb's law, for instance, will receive a working model where they can adjust variables and immediately see how those changes affect the outcome.
The initial rollout includes support for more than 70 core concepts, with plans to add more subjects in the future. The feature is available to all users, though OpenAI specifically highlights its potential value for high school and college students. This update builds on last year's 'Study Mode,' which was designed to help students work through problems rather than simply receiving answers.
An OpenAI statement indicated this is a foundational step. The company intends to broaden this interactive learning approach to other disciplines, aiming to make ChatGPT a more robust platform for education and comprehension.
