OpenAI Opens Texting for Dot Agents to Pro Users
OpenAI has begun rolling out a preview that lets US Pro users text their Dot agents, nearly a month after the agents launched with a promise that texting would eventually arrive.

OpenAI has begun rolling out a preview that lets US Pro users text their Dot agents, nearly a month after the agents launched with a promise that texting would eventually arrive.
The feature works through iMessage on iPhone and RCS on Android, and supports texts, photos and voice memos. OpenAI says a Dot can also reach out proactively with updates on tasks it has been assigned.
To set it up, users open the Dot's profile in ChatGPT and select Texting. OpenAI said it partnered with Linq for messaging support and ran extensive penetration testing, adding that only the user can text their Dot and only the Dot can text them. Information a Dot writes to its memory carries across ChatGPT and text.
The rollout comes as competition in personal agents heats up: Anthropic introduced Claude Duet last week, currently available through a US-only waitlist, with plans to offer it to subscribers of its $20 per month Pro plan.
