In a significant move to cultivate India's next generation of artificial intelligence companies, Nvidia has formalized partnerships with some of the country's most prominent venture capital firms. The chipmaker is collaborating with Peak XV, Z47, Elevation Capital, Nexus Venture Partners, and Accel India to scout and support promising AI startups.
This strategic alignment arrives amid surging investor confidence in India's tech sector, fueled in part by a robust IPO market. Nvidia reports that over 4,000 Indian AI startups are already enrolled in its global startup program, which provides resources for development and scaling.
The initiative directly supports the Indian government's "IndiaAI mission," a national strategy to build sovereign AI capabilities—systems developed on domestic infrastructure, data, and talent to reduce reliance on foreign technology. Nvidia's efforts extend beyond venture capital, involving work with government bodies, research institutions, and local cloud providers like Yotta and E2E Networks to construct AI-ready data centers.
Infrastructure investment is accelerating rapidly. Alongside commitments from Amazon, Microsoft, and Google exceeding $50 billion, Indian conglomerate Adani has announced a $100 billion plan for renewable energy-powered data centers. A government official this week suggested total data center investments could reach $200 billion in the coming years.
To further the sovereign AI goal, Nvidia is providing Indian organizations with access to its Nemotron family of AI models. These tools allow companies to train new systems on locally relevant data and languages, fostering chatbots, agents, and speech applications tailored for the Indian market.
