Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Says Chip Sales Will Double Next Year
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said Thursday that the company will sell twice as many chips next year as it does this year.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said Thursday that the company will sell twice as many chips next year as it does this year.
Speaking to the media at a summit in Scotland alongside King Charles III, Huang said the growth would come because AI is contributing to industries and economies around the world. "I expect Nvidia to sell twice as many chips as this next year as we do this year," he said, adding that people in nearly every country where the company operates want to invest in AI.
The forecast follows Nvidia's recent projection of 70% growth in the fiscal year ending in January 2028, a figure that sent analyst expectations higher.
Nvidia does not disclose its total chip sales. Its best-known products are data center graphics processing units, including its Blackwell and Rubin chips. Last fall, Huang said the company had shipped 6 million Blackwell GPUs over four quarters. Nvidia also makes CPUs, switch chips, optical networking chips, laptop chips, Jetson chips for robots and cars, and the chip inside Nintendo's Switch 2 console.
Huang was joined at the summit by representatives from Google DeepMind, OpenAI and Anthropic, and was in the U.K. to discuss AI safety. The topic has drawn intense public debate after AI researchers warned that humans can no longer control the most advanced artificial intelligence. "When a product is not safe, we should hold it back and keep engineering it," Huang said.
