In a recent address to shareholders, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang emphasized the company's commitment to prioritizing US national security over commercial opportunities. Huang stated that if a business opportunity conflicts with US national security interests, the company will always choose to support American interests. He also warned that attempting to smuggle Nvidia's chips or systems into countries with export restrictions, such as China, would be futile due to the company's refusal to provide support or repairs. According to Huang, advanced AI data centers require a complex array of trusted hardware, software, and networking components, making it impractical to construct functional data centers using smuggled parts.

This statement comes amidst growing concerns from Washington regulators and the Trump administration about the potential risks of exporting AI software and hardware to countries like China. Nvidia has already faced export controls on its chips since 2022 and has produced China-specific chips to comply with US government benchmarks. Despite this, the company has yet to generate revenue from these chips and is uncertain about China's willingness to import its products. Huang also discussed the company's financial performance, noting that Nvidia's fiscal 2026 revenue from China accounted for approximately 9% of its total revenue.

He expressed confidence in the company's ability to deliver strong growth, margins, and free cash flow, and reiterated plans to return 50% of its free cash flow to investors through share repurchases and dividends over the next few years.
