In a quarterly earnings discussion this week, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated that a fundamental shift is underway. The era of 'agentic AI,' where systems can execute tasks autonomously, has reached a critical turning point. 'AI agents are solving real problems,' Huang said.

The announcement comes as Nvidia, which now describes itself as an AI infrastructure company, reported staggering fiscal 2026 revenue of $216 billion, a 65% increase. This growth is fueled by its processors, which remain the engine for data centers powering the global AI expansion.

Agentic AI represents a move beyond reactive chatbots. These agents can perform multi-step actions, like planning and booking a full trip, with minimal human direction. The technology's arrival in consumer hands was underscored hours before Nvidia's call, as Samsung highlighted the 'agentic AI experience' in its new Galaxy S26 smartphone series.

Huang noted that broad recognition of this shift occurred only in recent months. He also pointed to the next frontier: physical AI, where intelligence is embedded into machinery like robots and autonomous vehicles. This category saw significant demonstrations at the CES trade show earlier this year, with robots performing tasks from laundry to factory assembly.

Industry attention now turns to Nvidia's GTC conference in March. The event is expected to provide details on the company's next-generation Rubin AI chip and may signal a strategic move into the competitive laptop processor market.
