GREENWICH, Conn., Jan. 20, 2026—A new software tool is entering the fray to help SAP partners manage a looming deadline. Virgil AI, a startup founded last year, has launched Virgil for SAP, an artificial intelligence assistant designed specifically for sales teams at SAP resellers and consultants.
The product arrives as partners face a surge in client demand. SAP’s mainstream maintenance for its core Business Suite 7 applications is scheduled to end on December 31, 2027. With an estimated 70% of users still on the older system, partners are inundated with complex requests for proposals (RFPs) as companies scramble to migrate to the newer S/4HANA platform.
"SAP partner sales processes are complex, and the cost of inconsistency is real," said Gabe Maiolo, CEO of Virgil AI, in a statement. "Teams are under extreme time pressure to digest requirements, qualify opportunities, and map needs to the correct SAP products."
Virgil for SAP attempts to standardize this often-chaotic process. The tool analyzes RFPs and customer documents, assesses fit, maps requirements to specific SAP modules, and helps generate tailored response content. It is trained on SAP’s own methodologies and sales materials, aiming to preserve institutional knowledge across deals.
Monty Goldberg, the company's CTO, said the goal is to tackle daily operational bottlenecks. "When intake, qualification, and SAP mapping become structured and reusable, teams gain speed without losing precision," he explained.
The startup has partnered with AlphaOak, an SAP consultancy, as an early advisor and user to refine the product. Virgil AI is positioning its tool as a specialized alternative to broader AI assistants like SAP’s own Joule, focusing narrowly on the sales execution challenges unique to the partner network. The tool is available now for demonstrations, as partners seek any advantage in a crowded and time-sensitive market.
