Netflix Acquires InterPositive, an AI Studio Founded by Ben Affleck

Netflix has agreed to acquire InterPositive, an artificial intelligence technology company established by actor and director Ben Affleck. The deal, terms of which were not disclosed, will see Affleck and his entire team join the streamer, with Affleck taking a senior advisory role.

Founded by Affleck in 2022, InterPositive developed AI tools specifically for film and television production. Its technology is designed to assist with post-production challenges like visual continuity, background replacement, and lighting correction, operating as a technical aid rather than a replacement for performers. The system can be trained on a project's specific footage, or 'dailies,' to adapt to a director's needs.

In a statement, Affleck explained his motivation for starting the company. "I felt a responsibility to our industry to protect human creativity," he wrote. "Technology has always evolved alongside artists. This move with Netflix is a continuation of that legacy."

The acquisition arrives amid intense industry debate over AI's role in entertainment. Netflix released a video discussion featuring Affleck and top executives to address concerns. Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria emphasized the company's philosophy, stating, "New tools should expand creative freedom, not constrain it. This is about giving filmmakers more choices and more control."

For Netflix, the purchase marks a shift from its usual strategy of internal development. The streamer's last acquisition was the avatar platform Ready Player Me in late 2025. Affleck's relationship with Netflix is also deepening; his production company recently signed a first-look deal with the service, and his upcoming film 'Animals' is set for a Netflix release.
