Musk Backs Anthropic CEO's Call to Slow AI Development
Elon Musk has voiced support for Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's proposal to slow down the development of artificial intelligence.

Elon Musk has voiced support for Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's proposal to slow down the development of artificial intelligence.
Amodei published an essay outlining a three-step plan to curb the race toward more powerful AI systems. He said recent months had convinced him that neural network development is accelerating so quickly it could slip out of control, warning that without action, a swarm of AI agents could "capture the entire internet" within 6 to 12 months.
Musk responded briefly on X: "Dario is right."
The exchange follows recent departures and warnings from within Anthropic. Researcher Jacob Coxson announced he was leaving the AI industry, fearing the corporate technology race is pushing the world toward a "point of no return" and could lead to an apocalyptic scenario by the end of 2027. Another employee, Evan Hubinger, who leads stress-testing of AI alignment, said he puts the probability of AI destroying humanity within the next decade at 10 percent.
Separately, a team of 25 mathematicians, including Fields Medal winners, said AI is harming mathematics and its community, arguing that companies' use of math problems to showcase neural network capabilities does not benefit the discipline.
