A new smart ring is changing how we interact with wearable tech. Luna, the health technology company, announced Thursday that its latest model, the Luna Ring Gen 2, now responds to voice commands. This feature, called Luna Voice, allows users to verbally log meals, supplements, or exercise types directly to the ring, eliminating the need for manual app entries.
The system uses the company's LifeOS AI, powered by Gemini and compatible with Siri, meaning it currently functions only with Apple devices. Users can describe an activity or ask health-related questions, receiving audio responses through a paired phone or earbuds. Luna founder Amit Khatri described the development as a fundamental change for wearables, moving from simple measurement to understanding daily context and behavior.
The innovation was also shown in the upcoming Luna Band, a screenless wrist tracker previewed at CES. Both devices operate without a subscription fee, a notable point in a crowded market.
However, U.S. customers cannot currently purchase the ring. Following a patent complaint filed by Oura Ring in November, Luna's parent company, Nexxbase, agreed on January 8 to voluntarily halt U.S. sales. A company representative stated they are working to resolve the issue and expect to resume U.S. sales within a few months. Presales for the Luna Band are scheduled for April, with a launch planned for late May.
