Lucid Motors Hits 18,000 Vehicles in 2025, Marking a Hard-Won Turnaround

Lucid Motors has pulled off a significant manufacturing feat, more than doubling its annual production to over 18,000 electric vehicles in 2025. The company delivered more than 15,000 of those, a 55% increase from the previous year, marking a recovery from a difficult start to the year. This growth was anchored by the ramp-up of its second model, the Gravity SUV, a vehicle whose launch was anything but smooth.

Early production of the Gravity, praised for its range and luxury, was hampered by software problems and parts shortages. These issues forced Lucid to repeatedly lower its annual targets, testing investor patience. Under CEO Peter Rawlinson, the company focused on refining its Arizona factory operations, applying lessons learned from building its Air sedan. By the fourth quarter, the strategy showed results: Lucid built 8,412 vehicles, a 104% jump from the same period in 2024.

The turnaround came at a financial cost, with the company reporting substantial quarterly losses as it invested heavily to fix production bottlenecks. Yet, the Gravity, starting at $79,900, found its audience. Positive reviews highlighting its spacious interior and performance helped drive demand, even amid stiff competition from Tesla and Rivian and a broader market slowdown.

Lucid's path forward relies on this hard-earned momentum. The company has announced plans for a new, more affordable mid-size model to expand its reach. While profitability remains a future goal, analysts see the 2025 production doubling as evidence of a more mature and resilient operation, one that has navigated the complex realities of building electric vehicles at scale.
