Engineers in Kazan have developed a new type of unmanned aerial vehicle designed to identify and neutralize other drones. The project, first reported by the TV channel Vesti, centers on a quadcopter described as fast, agile, and highly maneuverable.
The interceptor drone operates using an artificial intelligence system, enabling it to autonomously track targets. Its simple, modular design allows for rapid assembly and disassembly in field conditions. According to its creators, the drone can reach speeds approaching 300 kilometers per hour at altitudes of up to three kilometers.
The AI software powering the system was written over six months by a team of young scientists in Kazan. The platform uses a domestic application for operation. Developers report the drone has undergone dozens of successful tests and has already attracted attention from major industrial concerns. The team is currently preparing patent documentation for the vehicle.
The development arrives as unmanned systems take on expanded roles in modern security and defense. Analysts note a broader shift toward cost-effective drone technology for various applications, a trend highlighted in recent commentary from other defense publications regarding the evolving use of such platforms.
