CNBC’s Jim Cramer says the data center and artificial intelligence boom has become an all-consuming force, spreading far beyond traditional tech companies into nearly every sector of the economy. During Tuesday’s “Mad Money” segment, as all three major indexes closed higher, Cramer described AI as “inexorable” and “fierce,” noting it is generating real fortunes for believers.

The first-quarter earnings season, he explained, has been driven by what he called an “explosion of profits” among companies tied to AI and data centers. The gains are now broadening across a widening group of stocks. To illustrate this, Cramer referenced Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s “five-layer cake” framework—a stack of interconnected industries all benefiting from the same infrastructure buildout.

At the foundation is power: data centers need massive electricity, boosting utilities like Vistra, GE Vernova, and Constellation Energy. Next come semiconductors—Nvidia, AMD, Intel, plus memory players Western Digital and Micron, and equipment makers ASML and Applied Materials. Above that sits hardware: servers from Dell, cooling tech from Vertiv, electrical gear from Eaton, networking from Cisco and Arista, fiber from Corning, and backup generators from Caterpillar and Cummins.

The fourth layer is AI models, where cloud providers Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud profit from surging usage. At the top are applications like ChatGPT, the interface that ignited it all.

For Cramer, the key takeaway is clear: this isn’t a narrow tech story anymore. It’s a broad economic shift. “Those with S&P index funds will get a piece of the action,” he said. “Those who pick the right stocks could get it all.”
