How Rossiya Segodnya Built a Private AI Stack for Newsroom Automation

International news agency Rossiya Segodnya has deployed a private AI infrastructure using YADRO G4208P G3 servers, keeping all sensitive data within its own IT perimeter. The setup runs entirely inside the agency’s existing network, eliminating the need to send proprietary materials to external cloud services.

Live services include automatic transcription, multilingual audio and video processing, subtitle generation, and image search across a photo bank of more than 3.5 million images. A language model trained on the agency’s own archive can now generate new text without direct journalist involvement.

“Media is dealing with exploding volumes of information, formats, and channels. AI is no longer a novelty — it’s a tool that helps teams handle large datasets faster while maintaining quality under growing production loads,” said Dmitry Ushakov, Executive Director of the Rossiya Segodnya media group. “We apply this approach daily to scale content preparation using our accumulated data and expertise.”

The hardware foundation — eight GPU-accelerated YADRO G4208P G3 servers — was supplied by Russian tech firm YADRO, part of IKS Holding. Planning began in March 2025, with teams identifying priority editorial workflows, selecting configurations, and preparing deployment recommendations. The servers went live in December 2025.

Alexander Bakulin, YADRO’s Commercial Director, noted: “Businesses are moving past the experimental phase with AI. It’s now a practical tool for automating routine tasks, processing large data sets faster, and freeing experts for work that requires judgment and creativity. Rossiya Segodnya’s approach shows maturity: they deployed AI services on dedicated hardware within their own secure perimeter, automating editorial processes while keeping full control over data and compute resources.”

The architecture is designed for easy expansion. This model — a private AI cluster inside a company’s own network — is applicable to any organization handling sensitive data at scale, including finance, manufacturing, healthcare, and government. The Rossiya Segodnya case will be presented in detail at the CIPR Forum 2026, held May 18–21 in Nizhny Novgorod.
