At the Google Cloud Next conference, Sundar Pichai introduced the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, a significant new offering designed for creating and overseeing AI agents across large organizations. This platform represents Google's direct competitor to similar tools from Amazon and Microsoft.

What stands out is Google's specific focus for this product. Recognizing that AI agents are currently most advanced for technical work and that enterprise adoption hinges on security, the company is targeting IT and engineering departments first. The tool is built for those teams to construct and manage agents at scale.

For other business units, Google points to its existing Gemini Enterprise application. Employees there can either use agents developed by their technical colleagues or assemble simpler ones for functions like scheduling, automating routine processes, or handling documents without leaving their workflow.

Underpinning both tools is a selection of AI models. Google confirmed access to its own Gemini language model and Nano Banana 2 for images, alongside Anthropic's Claude family. Support includes Claude's high-performance Opus line, the balanced Sonnet, and the cost-efficient Haiku, integrating the recently released Opus 4.7.
