The owners of Elvis Presley's music have filed a lawsuit against Anthropic, accusing the company of using his songs to train its AI models without permission.

The suit, filed Friday, claims Anthropic infringed 274 Presley songs, including "Can't Help Falling in Love," "A Little Less Conversation" and "Don't Be Cruel." Authentic Brands Group, which owns the rights to Presley, brought the case alongside other entities holding rights to the singer's catalog.

Lead attorney Richard Busch wrote that the plaintiffs are "deeply protective of these iconic songs" and are seeking to enforce their exclusive rights against a company that "has built its entire business model based on copyright infringement at a scale never seen before." The filing also claims Anthropic's Claude continues to produce infringing output even after supposed "guardrails" were added, and seeks $150,000 per infringed song.

Anthropic has faced similar suits from Round Hill, Universal Music Publishing, Abcko, Concord and BMG over lyrics used to train Claude. The Hollywood Reporter reached out to Anthropic for comment but did not hear back.
