ElevenLabs, a company best known for its advanced voice synthesis technology, has launched a free iOS application called ElevenMusic. The move signals a strategic expansion beyond its core market, positioning the firm to challenge established AI music generators such as Suno and Udio. The app, which appeared on the App Store in recent weeks, became widely available on April 1.
With ElevenMusic, users can generate up to seven songs daily using simple text descriptions. They have control over a track's duration, whether it includes lyrics, and its overall style. The platform also functions as a social discovery hub, allowing people to browse, listen to, and even remix songs created by other users—though remixes count against the daily generation limit. The interface features familiar streaming elements like curated playlists for different activities, top charts, and new release sections.
A professional subscription, priced at $9.99 monthly, increases the creation limit to 500 tracks per month and adds substantial storage and expanded style libraries. This consumer push follows a period of significant investment and product development for ElevenLabs. After securing $500 million in funding at an $11 billion valuation in February, the company has accelerated its work on creative AI tools. It released its first music model last summer, collaborated with professional producers on an AI-assisted album earlier this year, and recently introduced a broader suite for multimedia content creation.
The launch of ElevenMusic represents a clear bid to build a dedicated user base and diversify revenue streams ahead of potential market saturation in AI audio. The company is already hiring to support this new music division and is considering incentive models, including possible royalty programs, to encourage creator participation on its platform.
