Liang Wenfeng, the founder of Chinese AI startup DeepSeek, has become the wealthiest creator of artificial intelligence models in the world, according to the latest Bloomberg Billionaires Index. His net worth more than doubled overnight to $36 billion following a new investment round, leapfrogging prominent figures from OpenAI and Anthropic.

The 40-year-old entrepreneur saw his fortune jump from $16.7 billion just a day earlier - a 116% single-day gain. Since the start of the year, his wealth has increased by 124%. The surge places him well ahead of OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman, who is worth $25.5 billion, and Anthropic co-founder and CEO Dario Amodei, at $7.98 billion.

DeepSeek, based in China, gained global attention last year after releasing an AI assistant that the company claims matches the performance of ChatGPT. The startup specializes in developing its own large language model and has attracted significant investor interest amid a broader boom in artificial intelligence. Liang's rapid ascent underscores how quickly fortunes can be made in the fiercely competitive AI sector.
