COLOGNE, Germany—DeepL, the European language AI company, has named two new executives to its top ranks, completing a rapid series of senior appointments. Detlef Krause joins as chief revenue officer and Gavin Mee as chief operating officer, the company announced on January 14, 2026. This marks the fourth C-suite addition in just three months, a move driven by swelling corporate demand for the company's specialized artificial intelligence tools.
The appointments follow a period of significant growth in 2025, which saw the launch of DeepL's AI Agent and Customization Hub, alongside expansions to its core translation, writing, and voice products. Founder and CEO Jarek Kutylowski stated the new hires provide "the strongest possible bench to grow adoption of DeepL's AI solutions for enterprise."
Krause, who takes over from the retiring David Parry-Jones, brings more than 25 years of enterprise sales experience from Microsoft, Salesforce, SAP, and ServiceNow. At ServiceNow, he was instrumental in scaling the German operation. "DeepL is already renowned for its world-class Language AI and is now emerging as a pioneer in agentic AI," Krause said. "My ambition is to bring our AI to every enterprise worldwide."
Mee, tasked with operational scaling, has held senior positions at Salesforce, Oracle, Adobe, UiPath, and Palo Alto Networks. His focus will be on expanding infrastructure and integrating AI agents into business workflows for DeepL's global investor base.
These latest hires build on the appointments of Gonçalo Gaiolas as chief product officer in October 2025 and Martino Cadoni, formerly of Klarna and HSBC, as chief financial officer in November 2025. The leadership overhaul signals an aggressive expansion phase for the seven-year-old company, which was valued at $2 billion in a 2024 funding round.
DeepL's tools are now used by over 100,000 businesses, with a particular emphasis on accuracy and security for sectors like legal services, finance, and life sciences. With headquarters in Cologne and hubs in London and New York, the company is positioning 2026 as a defining year for its AI agent technology, betting that precision in language will set it apart in a competitive market.
