CoreWeave, the specialized cloud provider built on Nvidia hardware, confirmed a multi-year agreement with Anthropic on Friday. The deal will supply the computational backbone for Anthropic's Claude AI models, marking the ninth of the ten most prominent AI model developers to rely on CoreWeave's infrastructure. The company's shares rose approximately 4% on the news.
This partnership follows closely on the heels of a significant expansion with Meta, which pledged an additional $21 billion in spending with CoreWeave just a day prior. That agreement builds on a previous $14.2 billion commitment. While the financial terms of the Anthropic arrangement were not disclosed, CoreWeave indicated that only Elon Musk's xAI, among the top ten foundational model firms, is not currently a client.
The collaboration with Anthropic will begin with a staged deployment of CoreWeave's resources, which include data centers stocked with hundreds of thousands of Nvidia GPUs. This network has become a critical supplement for even the largest tech firms; Microsoft, OpenAI, and Google all tap CoreWeave to help manage the intense computational needs of advanced AI.
For Anthropic, the partnership supports the rapidly growing adoption of its Claude models and Claude Code assistant. The company recently reported its annualized revenue rate has surged past $30 billion, a substantial increase from the $9 billion figure noted at the end of last year, underscoring the infrastructure demand driving deals like this one.
