While industry giants compete for major corporate clients, Canadian AI firm Cohere has built a substantial business with less fanfare. The company informed investors it exceeded its 2025 annual recurring revenue goal of $200 million, reaching $240 million. According to CNBC, the company maintained a quarterly growth rate above 50% for the entire year.
Founded in 2019, Cohere counts technology powerhouses Nvidia, AMD, and Salesforce among its investors. Its primary offering is the Command series of generative AI models. The company emphasizes these models' efficiency, stating they can operate effectively on a constrained number of GPUs—a significant selling point for cost-conscious businesses.
In a strategic expansion last summer, Cohere introduced 'North,' an enterprise-grade platform. This workspace allows companies to develop secure, customized AI agents and workflows utilizing Cohere's underlying technology.
CEO Aidan Gomez indicated last October that an initial public offering could happen 'soon.' Should that timeline point to 2026, Cohere would potentially enter a busy market. OpenAI, Anthropic, and Elon Musk's xAI are also rumored to be considering public listings in the near future. TechCrunch has contacted Cohere for additional details.
