Founded in 2016, Code Metal initially developed compiler technology for high-performance hardware. It pivoted as large language models proved adept at generating functional code. The company's platform now uses orchestrated AI agents to manage the entire application lifecycle—from architecture to deployment—aiming to turn domain experts into software builders.

This shift arrives amid rapid change. GitHub reports over 40% of code on its platform is now AI-generated.
