While broader market indices slid on Thursday, shares of cloud computing companies surged, delivering their strongest collective performance in nearly a year. The WisdomTree Cloud Computing Fund (WCLD) climbed 4.5%, marking its best day since last April.

The rally was led by significant jumps in key holdings. Identity management firm Okta and website builder Wix.com each saw shares rise 8.8%. Database provider MongoDB and software firm Intapp advanced approximately 7%. SailPoint, which specializes in cloud identity security, gained 6.5%.

Okta's move followed its Wednesday earnings report, where it posted fourth-quarter results that topped analyst forecasts. The company cited strong demand for its agentic AI security tools. However, its outlook for the current quarter fell short of expectations, reflecting ongoing challenges. Despite Thursday's jump, Okta shares are still down nearly 10% for the year.

The sector's sharp one-day gain offers a reprieve but doesn't erase a difficult period. The WCLD fund itself remains down about 16% since January. Cloud stocks have faced persistent pressure in 2026, largely due to investor concerns about how artificial intelligence might disrupt established software business models. Thursday's action suggests select companies executing on new AI-driven security needs can still attract strong buyer interest, even within a struggling group.
