Cisco has announced a collaboration with Palantir to deliver Palantir's Ontology for Cybersecurity through Cisco's Secure AI Factory with NVIDIA, positioning it as a preferred full-stack foundation for Palantir's Sovereign AI OS. The goal is to give customers - including government organizations and large enterprises in regulated industries - operational control over their proprietary data and critical infrastructure in AI deployments.
According to Cisco, AI strategy comes down to three factors: intelligence, cost, and control. Raw benchmark scores matter less than applied intelligence built on specific enterprise context, which often means post-training open models like NVIDIA Nemotron with business data for better accuracy at lower cost. Cost is about useful intelligence per dollar, per watt, per unit of infrastructure. Control means deploying models where you choose - cloud, edge, or on-prem - with authority over your data and security.
Cisco says open-weight models are now outperforming frontier models on real-world applications, letting customers diversify their AI strategies. Under the collaboration, Cisco provides secure, observable infrastructure with unified management in Cisco Cloud Control, Nemotron offers a platform for post-training with proprietary data, and Palantir supplies the operational AI layer with Foundry and AIP, grounded in the Palantir Ontology, to turn data into decisions and agentic action.
The result is a reference architecture combining compute, networking, storage, security, observability, and AI workflows, validated as one system. Cisco says the focus is on an architecture that is faster to deploy, simpler and cheaper to run, and more secure than what customers could assemble themselves, with forward-deployed engineers helping companies and countries build custom AI. Cisco notes NVIDIA and Palantir are already using the architecture as the blueprint for one of the world's most complex supply chains, with the next step being expansion to more industries.
