According to Cisco, the same challenges tend to show up whether AI is being used in a hospital, a factory, or a retail store: applications must be dependable, scalable and useful in the real world. That requires infrastructure, data, security, networking, software, and industry expertise working together, not just a model or a single application. Cisco says AI cannot reach its full potential in a silo; it succeeds through the ecosystem around it.

Cisco's latest AI Readiness Index found that 82% of organizations say the urgency to deliver a return on AI has increased in the past six months. The same research showed that companies with the strongest AI foundations are four times more likely to move AI projects into production and 50% more likely to achieve measurable business value. Without a connected technology ecosystem, Cisco warns, promising AI initiatives often stall at the pilot stage.

To address that, Cisco introduced Cisco Compatible Solutions for AI. The offering combines a full stack of Cisco infrastructure, including compute powered by Intel and others, with an expanding ecosystem of independent software vendors. It supports deployments such as Cisco Unified Edge, scaling workloads with AI PODs, and connecting AI across distributed environments, with components tested to work together from day one.

Cisco gives examples across industries: retail stores can use AI to create more intuitive customer experiences and improve operations; healthcare clinicians can get better-informed decisions when AI runs on trusted infrastructure; manufacturing can optimize thousands of operational decisions daily, improving quality, efficiency, and safety. The use cases differ, but the underlying requirement is the same: infrastructure, software, and AI working as a complete system. Cisco designed the program so customers can keep adopting new models and partners without rebuilding their infrastructure each time.
