In its first earnings report since going public last month, Cerebras, a leading AI chipmaker, announced a substantial increase in revenue, with a 92% growth rate in the first quarter. The company's revenue rose to $193. 4 million, up from $99. 5 million a year earlier.
Despite this impressive growth, Cerebras' stock fell 5% in extended trading, following the release of its financial results. The company reported a loss per share of 22 cents and a net loss of $14 million, which represents a significant reduction from the $23. 9 million net loss reported in the same quarter last year. Cerebras' successful IPO in May, which raised over $6 billion, has positioned the company to capitalize on the growing demand for AI infrastructure.
The company's chips are designed to provide a performance advantage, with significantly more SRAM memory than competing products from Google and Nvidia. Recent partnerships with Amazon Web Services and OpenAI, including a deal worth over $20 billion to supply computing power, are expected to drive further growth. Looking ahead, Cerebras forecasts core revenue growth of 88% in the second quarter, with full-year core revenue projected to reach between $855. 5 million and $865 million, representing 69% growth at the midpoint.
