The past week saw significant momentum for Amazon Web Services, marked by major community events and a slate of new product releases. In Kenya, the AWS Student Community Day at Meru University capped a series of workshops, with discussions spanning GitOps and AI agent development. Meanwhile, JAWS Days 2026 drew over 1,500 attendees in what is considered the world's largest AWS Community Day.

On the product front, AWS announced the general availability of Amazon Connect Health. This service introduces five specialized AI agents designed for patient verification, appointment management, and medical coding, all built to be HIPAA-eligible and integrated into clinical workflows within days.

Another key release is the general availability of policy management within Amazon Bedrock AgentCore. This allows security teams to define access and validation rules for AI agents using natural language, which are then automatically converted into AWS's Cedar policy language.

Other notable updates include OpenClaw on Amazon Lightsail for deploying private AI assistants, and the introduction of pricing for VPC Encryption Controls starting March 1. AWS also extended Database Savings Plans to cover Amazon OpenSearch Service and Amazon Neptune Analytics, offering potential savings of up to 35%.

For developers, new AI-powered environment analysis in Elastic Beanstalk provides troubleshooting guidance, and a streamlined IAM role setup aims to simplify workflows within several core services.

The community calendar highlights the AWS Community GameDay Europe on March 17 and several upcoming Summits, including events in Paris and London this April.
