AWS brought together its global Heroes community last week for the annual invite-only summit, where experts in AI, serverless, and containers collaborated directly with AWS product teams. The event featured a fireside chat with CEO Matt Garman, an AMA with James Hamilton, and breakout sessions aimed at sparking new ideas and partnerships.

Among the notable launches, Amazon Bedrock now supports web search for OpenAI models (GPT-5.4, GPT-5.5, and GPT-5.6), enabling AI applications to pull real-time internet data while keeping everything within a secured AWS environment. Also new: dedicated runtime instances for AI agents via Bedrock AgentCore, and vector search for DynamoDB, which allows storing and querying embeddings alongside existing data without a separate database.

AWS Transform's continuous modernization capability is now generally available, helping teams tackle technical debt across repositories on an ongoing basis. Lambda functions also gained a bandwidth boost, scaling up to 3,000 Mbps for functions with 10 GB of memory.

In other news, AWS open-sourced Dogwood, a governance language for AI agents that adds temporal conditions to Cedar policies. The company also announced support for Agent Plugins, an open standard for portable agent extensions, and introduced Kiro Crew, a persistent workspace for collaborative multi-agent development within the Kiro IDE. These updates aim to give developers more control, flexibility, and efficiency in building and running AI-powered applications.
