AT&T has placed its Connected Spaces platform on the AWS Marketplace, a move designed to attract small and medium-sized business owners who need operational monitoring without a dedicated IT department. Announced on January 26, 2026, the listing makes the integrated sensor-and-dashboard system available to the vast AWS customer base.

The platform bundles wireless sensors, LTE gateways, and cloud software, promising a setup that works out of the box. Businesses can monitor conditions like temperature, leaks, and door access, receiving custom alerts by SMS or email. A starter package is listed at $1,579 for a one-year term, which includes support. AT&T emphasizes the system's simplicity, stating installation requires no technical expertise—just unbox, pair devices, and log into the dashboard.

This is a strategic step for AT&T as it seeks growth beyond its core wireless business, which faces a saturated market. Connected Spaces was first introduced in January 2025 as a physical kit. By moving it to AWS as a software service, AT&T is betting on recurring subscriptions. Mike Van Horn, an associate vice president at AT&T, said the tool is about helping businesses "make smarter decisions, faster."

Early users, like the University of South Carolina's College of Information and Communications, report using it for tasks from counting people in rooms to monitoring server closet temperatures. "We replaced assumption with facts," said Dean Tom Reichert.

The company faces competition from similar offerings by Verizon and T-Mobile. AT&T's argument is that its end-to-end, pre-integrated approach avoids the complexity of assembling parts from different vendors—a potential advantage for time-strapped small business owners. With this AWS partnership, AT&T is positioning itself not just as a connectivity provider, but as a platform for operational intelligence.
