Anthropic's Pre-IPO Valuation Could Soar Past $800 Billion

Anthropic, the AI firm behind the Claude models, is reportedly fielding investor interest that could more than double its valuation ahead of a potential 2026 public offering. According to a Bloomberg report citing investor proposals, the company is now being discussed at around $800 billion, a staggering jump from a preliminary $350 billion estimate this past winter. This figure brings it close to the reported $852 billion valuation of its chief rival, OpenAI.

The numbers reflect strong investor confidence following Anthropic's announcement of $30 billion in annualized revenue. However, the report notes that high-growth startups often reject such ambitious private funding rounds, and sources indicate no final decisions have been made at Anthropic.

The company has remained in the spotlight. Its recent product announcements have pressured the stock prices of established software vendors. Furthermore, Anthropic has been entangled in U.S. regulatory debates over AI safety. While former President Donald Trump labeled the company a "supply chain threat," a court has suspended the enforcement of that directive, leaving its regulatory path uncertain as its financial prospects appear to ascend.
