Anthropic's Claude Gets a Design Assistant, Aiming for the Boardroom, Not the Art Studio

Anthropic is expanding Claude's capabilities beyond text and code. The company announced Claude Design, a new feature that allows the AI to generate visual prototypes for business and development teams. This isn't a general-purpose image generator. Instead, it focuses on practical outputs like slide decks, social media graphics, and mockups for apps and websites.

The tool offers a degree of control over layout, color, and spacing, and supports collaborative commenting. A notable function for developers is its ability to analyze an existing codebase and design files to adhere to a company's specific branding automatically. Claude Design is currently available as a research preview for the company's Pro, Team, and Enterprise subscribers.

This move aligns with Anthropic's established focus on enterprise clients. The tool is built for workplace productivity, prioritizing corporate presentations over artistic exploration. It runs on a newly updated model, Opus 4.7, which Anthropic says has improved visual comprehension. Separately, Adobe plans to integrate its own creative AI agent into Claude, a distinct offering from this native design feature.
