Anthropic is tightening the connection between visual design and software development inside its Claude AI assistant, rolling out updates that let teams sync brand assets directly with coding workflows.
The company's Claude Code tool, which lets users build applications by describing what they want in plain language, can now pull in design elements from the newly enhanced Claude Design feature. Developers can call up those visuals inside their coding terminal using a simple "/design" command. The two systems stay synchronized, so teams no longer need to manually reconcile the latest mockups with the latest code.
Claude Design, which launched in beta this April, now includes a dedicated administrator role. That person can set up a centralized "design system" - essentially a company's full brand kit - that Claude automatically checks for compliance across all projects. Users can import GitHub repositories, design files, and raw uploads directly into that system.
These updates arrive during a turbulent week for Anthropic. The company pulled its newest model, Fable 5, after the U.S. government ordered it to block non-U.S. citizens from accessing the system. The export control order followed discovery of a jailbreak that bypassed the model's cybersecurity safeguards. Anthropic said the only way to comply was to remove the model entirely.
The incident adds to ongoing tensions between AI developers and the Pentagon. Anthropic has publicly refused to let the military use Claude for surveillance or fully autonomous weapons. Competitor OpenAI stepped in to fill that gap, landing a contract with the Department of Defense. Meanwhile, a group of Claude subscribers filed a lawsuit this week, alleging the company misled them about usage limits on paid plans.
