Anthropic introduced a new product on Monday designed to address a growing problem in software development: the flood of code generated by AI. The tool, called Code Review, is built directly into the company's Claude Code platform and aims to automatically catch bugs and logical errors before they enter a software project's main codebase.

The launch responds directly to pressure from large corporate clients. According to Cat Wu, Anthropic's head of product, the rapid adoption of Claude Code by enterprises has created a bottleneck. "Claude Code is producing a huge volume of pull requests," Wu explained, referring to the method developers use to submit changes for review. "Leaders at companies like Uber and Salesforce asked us how to handle reviewing all of it efficiently. This is our answer."

Code Review, initially available in a research preview for Teams and Enterprise customers, integrates with GitHub. It automatically analyzes submitted code, leaving inline comments that explain potential problems and suggest fixes. Wu emphasized the tool focuses on substantive logic errors rather than stylistic nitpicking, a deliberate choice to provide immediately useful feedback to developers.

The system uses a multi-agent architecture, with several AI components examining code from different angles before a final agent consolidates the findings. It flags issues with a color-coded severity system - red for critical, yellow for review suggestions, and purple for problems linked to older code. The service is token-based, with Wu estimating an average cost of $15 to $25 per review, positioning it as a premium solution for large-scale operations.

The release comes as Anthropic's enterprise business expands rapidly, with subscriptions reportedly quadrupling since January. The company also faces headwinds, having recently filed lawsuits against the Department of Defense over a supply chain risk designation. In this context, tools like Code Review that solidify its value to major corporations become increasingly significant.
